Nayi Kheti / New Cropping

हम आजकल 
खेतों में 
गोदाई करते हुए 
मिटटी में 
यूरिया और पोटाश के बदले 
नफरत बीजते हैं 

उस से फसल 
शुरू शुरू में 
बहुत हरी दिखाई देती है 
हमारे सुदूर, पर उज्जवल 
भविष्य 
की तरह. 

थोड़े समय बाद 
हमें पता चलता है कि 
मक्की पक कर पीली हो जाती है 
और नफरत 
लाल. 

In our times
when we plough the land
to prepare the soil
we do not add
urea
or potash
to the soil.
We add
hatred.

At first
the crops look bright and green
Just like our distant
but bright and green
future.

After a while
we realise
that corn, on maturing, turns yellow
and hatred
turns red.
