Uncle next door

He went in his sleep. Thank God for that. I really cared for him. He was a quiet man, but he ALWAYS stopped to talk to baby and me, and we always looked out for him. We never passed each other with just a "Hi how are you?", unlike with most other neighbors.

This morning, a lot feels amiss. Nothing feels right. When he was going, suddenly, a strong urge rose to see him one last time, to touch his feet - something i had never done(because i was a daughter and daughters don't touch feet) .

Sharing grief is supposed to help.

I guess there is a lesson to be learnt here. Live life in such a way that everyone whose life you touch, misses you when you are gone.

So sad !! you reminded me of my close friend's old ailing father who though, was bed ridden for a long time and had lost his vision too, would immediately sense my arrival to their house and would call out to his son "Oye dekho balli aya hai, ehnu drink drunk puchho" He passed away in August last year and i feel the vaccum in their house whenevr i go there.

Sometimes, ppl we might not even know properly touch our lives as if they are an integral part of it.

May his soul rest in peace.
Amen.

Regrets are hard to live with unless confronted; I'm sure he thought of you as well in his last moments; you were a bright spot in his life, just as he was in yours, and sometimes bright spots go unreckoned till they pass you by and that happens to the best of us.

May his soul rest in peace and remember his blessings are always with u!

It is but human for us to feel that way for utter strangers too.

for an old person, to be missed thus, is perhaps the best tribute.
May his soul rest in peace.

Sorry to hear about your uncle. Very tough losing someone close. Most of my family is gone, just my brother and I now.

I am so sorry for your loss, but at least he went in his sleep what a easy peaceful way to leave this world.
I have always hoped that when it is my time to leave this world that is the way I go.
I had to watch my husband die struggling to breath and trying to tell me something, that I will never know, but if I had to guess what it was I would imagine it would have been I love you. He said that often.

to speak of grief does help...

silence is thicker than forgetting or remembrance...
