Splinters

Splinters

Tears.
Smiles.
The Zoo
The Park
The Swings
The popcorn
And the dolls
we couldn't afford.

The dresses
The shoes
The Cards
The gifts
The movies
And the comparisons
we couldn't draw.

The gowns
The recipes
The children
The homework
The parties
And the picnic
we could never go to.

Splinters All
And Life,
A Collage of Splinters.

Beautiful :-)
The tears and smiles we could afford, if nothing else.
Reminds me of the mastercard ad.

How lovely to get a guest in my humble house. Was great to have you. How lovely to see that the world is speaking in poetry no matter what race we are poetry is the voice comes to unite the passion that we have

Hey nice! Woah..I really do like poetry I understand - I have two posts on psuedo poetry, but poetry that has a universal appeal is always so, well, melodious:)

Friends
Rivals
Foes
Lovers
we couldn't hold.

The gifts
The cards,
The letters,
The sea shells
we couldn't throw away.

nicely told....
though it is so plain...
I feel a trench like depth..

the park we could'nt afford and the dolls we couldnt afford can be given n no of meanings..

Yes you need to leave lot of things unsaid..and have done so classily..carry on..;)

In time, a collage of splinters will make a wonderful mosaic picture. I did admire the poem, thank you for sharing it with us.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Splinters don't fit together like a jigsaw, so maybe that explains why life is so disjointed?
