Review of Jodha Akbar :-( :-( :-(

1. Ashutosh Gowarikar has been watching too many Ekta Kapoor serials.

Proof: Pointless, predictable "twists" in the story; 4 frames of the same shot where one would have been adequate; no substance and more length than can be humanly tolerated. All costumes and no characterisation.

2. Hrithik Roshan proves that, with a really bad story, and even worse execution, with a really, really lopsided and weak character, he can still carry a film on his shoulders.

I was expecting Jodha to shine better than Akbar, and the fact that her character was made deliberately, pointlessly stronger than that of Akbar, gave her an unfair advantage anyway. But what Hrithik can convey with his eyes, she cannot say even with her whole body and dialogues.

My review? Do yourself a favor, give this film a BIG miss.

I have a feeling it won't be too tough for me to miss this film, I didn't see it listed at our local theater. I have seen movies that make me think the producer should have paid me to watch.

THREE AND A HALF HOURS IS A REAL TEST OF PATIENCE...
historical dramas are always crucufied at the box office.beneath his muscles hrithik is an intense actor.

O-oh! Now I'm really not sure if I want to go watch it since Hubby had flatly refused to watch it and told me go watch it on me own but now I have to really think....

Hi Phosgene kid: he he.. so true. This film, and the one i saw yesterday - Monorana, 6 feet under, both come in that category. ;-)

Hi Gazal: "beneath his muscles hrithik is an intense actor." loved this line. So succintly put and so much! Why didnt i think of this one?

Hi Swati: I know.. so did i.. really, really wanted to see it. and then this!

Hi nm: DO go if u r a hrithik Roshan fan. Then ignore everything else in the film.

Hi Dharma: Actually, even the jewelry was unimpressive. But do go. The costumes were all very remarkable.

Hi mm: :-)

Hi Piercing the veil: Hmm... movies that could use a review? Will you be making a post about them?

Hi Mathew: You know, even ur comments are gud enuf to make junta ROFL!

Hi Raaji: From ur comment, i can bet that you will go and see it! Once u've done that, tell me what u think.

movie was ok. Unless you lost your interest in history, it is quite interesting. I got to know that Jalaluudin mohd is same as Akbar.

You could see the ending coming - that's what bothered me...

Hi Anand: Yep! CAM!

Hi Nishu: Am glad you enjoyed it!

Hi Phosgene: You saw the film?

Hi exseno: Never mind, you missed nothing. How goes it with you?

Hi pixie: Yep, will do. The pleasure is mine.

Hi id it is: I saw this in the papers. Salman Rushdie should really look for another profession. I would call him Shalimar the Clown, except that the character might mind. He really MUST stop bombarding us with the torture that he thinks is intelligent word play.
