Ironical, no? - On Gandhi Jayanti National Holiday

MK Gandhi was a man who made multi tasking a habit, who taught us "Work is Worship"(among other things, of course)
A man who read while he ate, and held strategy meetings with evening walks.. and HIS birthday is supposed to be a Forced Holiday?? What a way to show how well we remember his principles!

Yes,
we have not understood that Independence Day is to remind us that independence is from lethargy, Republic day is to remind us of our duties towards our nation, and this...
very rightly put.

Hi HDWK

It is a forced holiday from 'Office' not from work.

And I hope work is not just 'office' work.

The greatness of that man was his simplicity. Let us discover a Gandhi in ourselves. Let us first show ourselves how much do we remember Gandhi.

A very interesting point, there, HDWK
:)
Actually, this reminds me of the japanese way of life.
Whenever a gr8 polititian dies, in his honour, they keep offices and workplaces active and working for an extra couple of hours. And we wonder when india will shine. . . . . .

Hi Mampi: Ha ha.. very nicely put!

Hi manish: For me, personally, i LOVE the holiday. This was for some small shopkeepers who wanted to keep their shop open on that day, given the impending festival and their need to make money..the Forced Holiday part was for them. Not for me. :-)
Abt remembering our own Gandhigiri, sure, we can all choose to learn something or nothing from a personality.

But remembering Gandhi as a person is a choice.
