Today, I mentioned to someone that I don't think about self, so what others think of me is usually a blind spot. I have no idea how I am doing.. the person wondered where that is coming from.. I tried to explain the concept of bubbles and self. But it was only at home that I really figured it out.
I don't think about self because I don't have a concept of self. When we see people as "selves", we see them as stars, and a collection of these stars is a galaxy - a little like The Milky Way. But that law by Newton - Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it only changes form - is the exact same thing that the Geeta says about the Soul - it cannot be created or destroyed, it only changes form.
Another thing - that is very prevalent in Sanskrit thought - The microcosm and the macrocosm, reside in each other. I have truly experienced that.
So, I see the world, not as a galaxy, but as a pure, harmonious, unending wave of energy, not obstructed by concepts of self. When we take those obstructions of "self" away, we see only the flowing river of energy - which can neither be disturbed, nor created, nor destroyed. I see it so clearly, yet cannot describe it. Its one of those things that you experience in meditation, but cannot explain to anyone else. Yet it is real. I experience it, but cannot describe it. Because words slow us down.
जो भी मैं, कहना चाहूँ, बर्बाद करें, अलफ़ाज़ मेरे।

ReplyDeleteWe are a fluid concept...we flow from one form to another...from one image to another...from one facade to another.
ReplyDeleteI would give your words a slightly different twist...we always have a concept of self. Well thinking we don't have an image of self, is also an image of self :)
You know like water...it doesn't have a form, yet we picture it as an ocean more often than not. So by not have a form of self...we picture ourselves as an ocean of possibilities
