Come Blue bird,
The one with the blue neck
That drank of the nectar of death
And lived to tell the tale.
Come, Blue bird,
Bring that nectar
To souls parched for death
The multitudes left uncounted
Because the world only recognises
Souls parched for eternal life.
A brief life can be bliss too.
Come, Blue Bird,
To the ones not counted
To the thirst not yet quenched.
it touches a chord deep down in my soul
ReplyDeletei read it several times and each time loved it more...
a sweet bitterness i feel here...
and a warm chill...
namaste!
Splendid! The poem carries a death wish and yet glorifies the dying...
ReplyDeletePardon my ignorance, but is there a significant 'blue bird' reference here?
wow...What a deep meaning tied up with in those words :)
ReplyDeletegreat work
Keep doing it
THanks n CHeers
You know what? The NeelKanth is my favorite image too.
ReplyDeleteI felt a strange connection somewhere upon reading this.
WOnderful, thanks for sharing.
Interesting, I have heard of the Bluebird of happiness, never the blue reaper bird...
ReplyDeleteThis is GOOD! It feels like a positive poem, though it carries such a negative connotation... you've managed SO well!
ReplyDeletetishnagi jo aaj hai,
ReplyDeletevo aaj hai, aaj k liye,
jo tham gaye kuch aur din,
ye tishnagi rahe na rahe...
hai dekha kisne,khuda ko,
jo bakhsh de har khwaish,
ye zindagi hi ek dagar,
us manzil ki,
jo ho hamari...
:)
ReplyDeleteAm at a loss for words :)
Hi Human Being: Namaste! Thats a warm fresh surprise coming from you! And am so glad u liked it. As usual, you sum it up perfectly in those 2 words: Sweet Bitterness. Thats what this is.
ReplyDeleteHi id it is: This is a metaphor taken from a story about the Indian Lord Shiva, who is said to have drunk the poison and held it in his neck, so he was not harmed. The neck turned blue because of the poison, and the Lord is also addressed as Neelkanth - he of the blue neck. I have taken the metaphor and made it a bird.
Hi Dawn and Manpreet: Thanks! Am glad u liked it.
Hi Phos: Blue Reaper bird.. hmm.. that about sums it up well.
Hi smart: Thanks.
Hi Oceanic Mirages: Wow!! Did you write this?
Hi impulsively me: :-)

Hi Adi: Hello, i do not call her Oceaning mirages anywhere...
ReplyDeleteI will wait for that post.. really will!
Go Back Blue Bird,
ReplyDeleteI am happy not counted
before this world.
And I don't need
that nectar of death.
Go Back Blue Bird,
I am still counted
for those who matter to me.
I don't want an eternal life;
Coz I live in eternal bliss.
Go Back Blue Bird,
I have learnt
to live with the thirst.
Manish: Am just...speechless!!
