More on Ishaan

The diagnosis is confirmed. It is a respiratory tract infection brought on by an allergic reaction of the respiratory tract. Both the upper and the lower tract are involved (i.e., everything from the nostrils to the lungs).

That part, we know of. It is the unknown that is worrying me. The doctor confirmed that he looks pale. He is still not eating or digesting anything that he eats. Last night, we managed to get 3 spoons of dinner into him, and it all came out an hour later. All of it was completely undigested. Exactly as it went inside. His eyes are puffy and he is gritting his teeth too much.

He needs extra care, bcs children with Atopic dermatitis are expecially prone to Asthma , and this is his first allergy.

There are times when i wonder why a little child has to go through all this. At other times, i am fighting other people at home to do certain things for him.

And then, i think of you - of friends in this virtual world who hear me out, send good words my way, and perhaps also a prayer or two (I strongly believe in the power of prayer), and an involuntary smile comes along.

How many times can one say, Thank you.. and yet, each time comes as heartfelt as ever, if not more.. I dont know what i would have done without you.. and my dependance on u grows... :-)

It could be a food allergy as well, couldn't it? Cow's milk or gluten come to mind as possibilities.

A friend of mine had a little boy who didn't thrive as a baby, who had really poor digestion and poor muscle control. He couldn't digest wheat or milk-based products (he did not have coeliac disease though) and she had to be very careful about his diet. The good news is that he gradually grew out of it and it didn't affect him in the long run. He is now a highly intelligent and fit young man.

I hope he gets well really quick!

And show him to the homeopath as soon as you can as we discussed!

oh HDWK, i can feel all the pain you have when you see Ishaan like this... suffering... not eating... i remember the time my daughter was as old as Ishaan... and yes...
food allergy... i avoided all the vegetables and foods the doctor mentioned until she got 2 or 3 i think... now she eats them all...

and mind that allopathic remedies suppress and send the problem to inner and more important organs... a skin problem, if suppressed, usually reappears as asthma...
be sure of the way he is treated... if you are not pleased with you homeopath, change him or her... don't put homeopathy away...

since i got to know homeopathy, my daughter has had less cases of illness and if she had, she got well much sooner...

i do pray for dear lovely Ishaan... and for her fabulous courageous mother who is fighting for his health and happiness...
love to you my dearest friend...

You have put the whole situation in such words that we have to say thank you to you for considering us a part of your life. You discuss your problems only with those who you think are a part of your being.

Keep updating about Ishaan.

God bless you all.

Oh my friend watch him carefully and if you're not satisfied with the doctor go to another. My son is grown now but he has Asthma very badly and when he was about eight or nine he was in the hospital for a week.

Aww.. poor kid. Take care.

Well my son had similar problems when he was 2 till 3 years old. After doing a series of test, including a test for finding the allergy content in his body and scans, the doc figured out that his airway is very sensitive.

Coming to think about it, now we know why he used to throw up food while eating even when he was not having cold/cough. The doc's explanation was that the brat had postnasal drip, that is the phlegm kept dripping through the food pipe inside and when the food was swallowed, the phelgm had to be pushed out and the food came along with it.

And if you don't mind overly, can you tell me what home made concoction you gave to reduce his runny nose and phelgm?

Sorry for hogging your comment space. Hope this helped.

Hi z: that comment did a lot to raise my spirits the whole weekend and more. We took 2 days off to be with family in Chandigarh, and because there was a small pooja for Ishaan there..

Hi ~nm: his homeopathy is on! :-)

Hi soulbrush: I did give him a kiss for u, and thanks a ton for that really heart-warming comment. :-)

Hi human being: "since i got to know homeopathy, my daughter has had less cases of illness and if she had, she got well much sooner..." - that one line sent me to the homeopath in a jiffy. :-)

Hi mampi: True, very right. I do feel like i belong with my blog friends a lot more than with most other places...and you are also right about one more thing - one never shares one's troubles except with friends.. really close friends.. you realised how important all my blog friends are to me by realising that i will only share troubles if i feel really close..

Hi GIri: Thanks.. he is better now.. how have u been? and hows the little one?

Hi Phos: Thanks.. we did put him on multi vitamins... :-)

Hi button: Thanks!

Hi exseno: Thanks! He is much better now, and thankfully, his doctor is quite nice.. :-) Do hope, though, that this allergy was a one time event..

Hi adi: Thanks a ton!! He IS better now :-)

Hi Subhasree: Thanks!! We also had to get his allergy test done..

Re. the home made concoction, i practice a little ayurveda at home. The concoction varies each time depending on the constitution of the patient, the precise symptoms and the works.. this may sound a little tricky but the ingredients that work on a dry cough actually worsen a phlegm case and vice versa... which is why, a ready made recipe here may not be the best idea. I have recently suffered the consequences of such a recipe so this comes from experience :-)

The long story is that the Other heard from junta in his office that honey helps cough. (One more. honey helps bring out the phlegm. Idiots, if the body is producing a lot more, obv. phlegm will come out!) I tried telling him that honey is for dry cough and should be avoided for phlegm cases, but he wouldnt listen. The honey was given to the baby for symptom alleviation, and as expected, he spent the whole night coughing and vomiting. Don't even ask!!

There now, i have hogged even more space!

Ok, I asked because I prepare a kashayam types at home and give it when the kids get cold/cough. I boil one betel leaf, a few tulsi leaves, 2 leaves of karpooravalli, (don't know the sanskrit name, nor the botanical name, it is a spongy leaf with a distinct medicinal smell), a little jeera and a few peppercorns till the water becomes half. I cool it and add some jaggery/honey and give an ounce four times a day. It helps, I think. But I am no expert, it is my grand mother's recipe.
